[ARCHIVED] Pink Water, Water is Safe to Drink!

Potassium permanganate is a deep purple colour and when the dosing is slightly higher than required to treat the iron and manganese it creates a slight pink colour in the water.   The water remains safe to drink, and the safety of the water was never compromised as the maximum level allowed of potassium permanganate is far greater than the level that led to the pink water.  There appears to be reduced flow from one of the wells at Lambourn resulting in slightly too high a dose of potassium permanganate.  CVRD staff are currently working on the system and customers who are still experiencing pink water are asked to run their cold water taps until the water runs clear.
