Swim Lessons

2

Every summer, Cowichan Lake Recreation offers a variety of swimming lessons at beautiful Arbutus Park in Youbou. Our lessons are among the most affordable in the Cowichan Valley and our certified swim instructors will help your child refine their skills in a truly nostalgic setting. Swim instructors and lifeguards will be dependent on staff recruitment and lessons may be cancelled and/or lifeguard service may not be available.

Youbou Swim Camp | Ages 8 - 14

The camp will start each day at the Youbou Community Hall, enjoying classic camp activities and playing different sports such as bowling, basketball, and floorball. Each day the Camp will head to Arbutus Beach for swimming and playing. This camp provides swimming lessons during their week of camp! We will be on the go each day so bring lots of water, a big healthy lunch, snacks, sunscreen, and a hat.

Preschool Swim Lessons | Ages 3 -5

The Lifesaving Society Preschool program gives children a head start on learning to swim. Preschool programs develop an appreciation and healthy respect for the water before these kids get in too deep. In our five basic aquatic progressions we work to ensure 3 to 5-year-olds become comfortable in the water and have fun developing a foundation of water skills. Targeted Water Smart® drowning prevention messages are an integral part of the Swim for Life® program. These messages are delivered in all Preschool levels.

School Aged Swim | Ages 5+

The Lifesaving Society's 6-level Swimmer program makes sure your children learn how to swim before they get in too deep. Swimmer progressions accommodate children 5 years and older including absolute beginners as well as swimmers who want to build on the basics. We stress lots of in-water practice to develop solid swimming strokes and skills. We incorporate Water Smart® education in all levels.

Swim Patrol Lessons | Ages 8 - 15

The Swim Patrol provides enriched training for those who are ready to go beyond learn-to-swim. Swim Patrol's three levels - Rookie, Ranger, and Star - continue to develop participants' swim strokes and provide the skill foundation that prepares them for success in the Society's Bronze medal awards.

Adult & Teen Lessons | Ages 13+

Whether you're just starting out or want help with your strokes, our Adult Swimmer Program is for you. Whether your goals are to learn the basics or gain skill with swimming strokes your instructor will be able to provide you the support that you need. Teens and adults alike will develop water confidence and smooth, strong strokes to use for lane swimming or be fit enough for the beach.
