The CVRD backyard burning window is open Tuesday March 15 – Friday April 15 2022.  Open burning is only allowed when the Venting Index is rated GOOD for SOUTHERN VANCOUVER ISLAND for 4:00pm on the day you want to burn. Please note that backyard burning is completely banned in the local municipalities of City of Duncan, Town of Ladysmith and Town of Lake Cowichan. Similar to the CVRD, the Municipality of North Cowichan has a Fire Protection Bylaw restricting open burning.
